Basant K. Chaudhary appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom Morocco to Nepal

In his abilities to function and involve himself in multifaceted activities, Basant K. Chaudhary, Managing Director of Chaudhary Group was appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Morocco to Nepal in November 2007.

The Official function marking his appointment took place on November 16, 2007, amidst various important functions that day. In the morning in a flag-hoisting ceremony, the Moroccan flag was officially raised at Saraswoti Sadan, Thamel. HE Larbi Moukhariq, ambassador of Morocco to Nepal, and Mr. Basant K. Chaudhary the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Morocco to Nepal jointly hoisted the flag.

During the function attended by local diplomats, Honorary Consuls in Nepal intellectuals and the media, Prime Minister G.P. Koirala felicitation message was read out where he expressed that the bilateral relations existing between the two countries since 1975 would further be enhanced during the office of consul Chaudhary.

On the same day, at a function later in the evening at hotel Yak & Yeti, Foreign Minister Mrs. Sahana Pradhan said Nepal is very eager in extending commercial, economical and technical cooperation with Morocco and expressed her confidence that consul Chaudhary would play an important role in expanding all possibilities towards the enhancing of bilateral relation between the two nations.

Speaking at the function, non residential ambassador of Morocco H E Larbi Moukhariqe paid the Morocco with its booming economy is pleased to cement its political ties with Nepal and work towards drawing of a memorandum of understanding to setup mechanism of regular consolation between the two countries. He expressed his confidence in the new Consul Chaudhary in bridging the gap in the major area of the trade culture and services between Morocco and Nepal.

In his remarks at the function which was attended, various political leaders former prime minister, ministers, member of the diplomatic corps, high govt. officials and the media, onsul Chaudhary pointed out that despite setting up diplomatic ties in 1975, initiations and exploration in areas of cooperation, potential business opportunities between the two nations remained untapped. He said Nepal stands lots to learn and gain from the Moroccan experience and stressed during his tenure he would master all the efforts to further promote economy, trade, cultural and friendly ties between the two countries while also ensuring the promotion of people to people relation between Nepal and Morocco.
