When people think of Basant Chaudhary, they readily get a picture of a successful business personality. But that’s just part of his intricate persona, which is practical and down to earth with a fervent disposition to philanthropy and literature, that many may not be truly aware of.
Being human means being able to show empathy and compassion towards others. Mr Chaudhary deeply admires this core human virtue through which he has always viewed the world since his early childhood. Healing hand goes afar
Though BLC is headquartered in Nepal's capital Kathmandu, its manufacturing units and allied enterprises are spread across the country.Corporate social responsibility is a relatively new management concept compared to our business’s age-old value system of giving back to the society. It is in line with this inherent custom that Basant Chaudhary set up Shree Lunkaran Das-Ganga Devi Chaudhary Charity Hospital in 1994. The facility provides free medical treatment to the economically underprivileged people of the Sunsari district in Eastern Nepal, 364 kms from Kathmandu. Duhabi in Sunsari district is especially close to Basant Chaudhary’s heart as he had established his first companies, Mahalaxmi Maida Mills and Pashupati Biscuits, there.

Making good work better
Though Basant Chaudhary had begun treading the philanthropic path early in life, he set up the Basant Chaudhary Foundation (BCF) in 2009 to give formal shape and structure to his charity work. BCF is a non-profit organization that collaborates with both government and non-government agencies to empower grassroots communities in Nepal. The foundation focuses on facilitating activities in areas such as healthcare and emergency relief, education and sports, art, culture and heritage, as well as women’s empowerment. Full educational scholarships to deserving and needy students over the years have changed the lives of hundreds of students who rose to leadership positions in various companies around the world.
